A Small Business’s Guide to LinkedIn

If your small business isn’t already active on LinkedIn, you’re missing out, but not alone. LinkedIn is often overlooked by businesses, as most choose to focus on other platforms like Instagram and Facebook. We’re here to tell you why you should have a presence on LinkedIn and how it is beneficial for networking, brand awareness, and gaining exposure.

LinkedIn is a platform that connects professionals and businesses across the globe. This gives your business the space to connect with potential customers and other professional businesses. With every contribution you make, whether it be posting your own content or adding to conversations that others start, your brand is displayed. A strong online presence can lead to credibility and trust.

If you’re new to LinkedIn, here’s 7 tips on getting started:

1.        Just like we mentioned in A Business Owners Guide to TikTok, it’s important for your LinkedIn page, like any social media page, to have a profile that accurately represents your business.

2.        When it comes to posting, stay present on the platform by posting a few times a week. If you post about three times a week, this will avoid overloading your audience and yourself.

3.        Incorporate relevant hashtags and images into your posts. Research the hashtags you plan to use to make sure they relay the right message. In most cases, a few hashtags and one good quality image will achieve the desired result.

4.        Use emojis to make your posts more engaging. You make be thinking that emojis will make your post look unprofessional, they actually work to draw your reader in and give the post personality. Emojis are commonly used as bullet points.

5.        Strive to post when most people are using the app to gain the most engagement, which tends to be morning or early evening on weekdays.

6.        Use analytics tools to observe what kind of content your audience engages with the most, so you can continue posting content that they enjoy.

7.        If you’re looking to hire, LinkedIn allows you to know your candidates better before you interview them. You can check out their professional profile to see what posts they reshare, how they present themselves, and more about their experiences or certifications.
